Who We Are
Sageworks was founded on a few key principles that still infuse the way we do business, our interactions with all of our clients, and the culture of the Sageworks environment.
We are truly here to serve people
Many companies say this, but we mean it; it is the core of who we are as a group of people. Sageworks’ technology and, more importantly, the accompanying client service experience are designed to be customer-focused. We constantly solicit feedback from customers and then act on that feedback to improve the products and our interactions.
We value substance over form
Sageworks’ employees are not judged by what we wear, the school we attended, or the professionalism in our slideshow presentations. In fact, we discourage business school-type presentations when they come up in discussion. Instead, Sageworks focuses on the results we are able to achieve because it is these results that drive and improve our clients’ experience. Our focus on substance enables Sageworks to have a casual but intense work environment where people can speak freely with one another.
The Person With The Best Idea Or Information Wins
Our goal is to have as little management as possible because we think it is more important for Sageworks’ employees to be focused on results for our clients than reports for our “managers.” In fact, our ideal construct is a company with no management at all. That is the frame from which we look at any structure: how little management does this particular project or effort require? At Sageworks, the person with the best idea—not the highest-ranking title—wins. We give employees latitude for decision-making, and with that latitude, we expect them to take ownership of their projects to ensure we keep moving forward.
We invest in our employees
Because of Sageworks’ size and growth rate, we give employees the opportunity to meet their financial and professional goals and do so while working with great people. Employees are given opportunities that often exceed the qualifications they have on paper. Many of our former employees have gone on to start their own businesses or become leaders in other companies.
We Move Quickly
At Sageworks, we have an acronym to describe the values that are most important to us as a company, SOUL. The S stands for Speed. We move forward fast and assume things are getting completed immediately. If something can’t be finished now, we communicate a deadline. This especially applies when we’re serving customers and providing customer support. Moving with such urgency allows us to complete projects with very little down time, which has been extremely helpful to maintaining the company’s strong rate of growth.
We keep our eye on the future
We are a very goal-directed company so we set key goals and metrics and celebrate wins along the way. We know that each success we have at Sageworks is due to the hard work and dedication from our employees.
We believe in ownership
We hire great people so we trust the employees who are closest to the information relevant to any given decision to make the best decision possible based off of the data that they have available to them. Because of this, we give our employees autonomy and ownership over their role and responsibilities.
We learn a lot very quickly
Sageworks is a company where employees are able to learn more in just a few months than they would at many other companies in a year. People who join Sageworks often work in different areas of the company, with different products and among different groups of people within their first few months. If you are looking for a great business opportunity and willing to work hard for it, you’ll find one here.
