President and Chief Credit Officer, First Bank & Trust
Duane is a 37-year career banker and has been with First Bank & Trust ($935 million in assets) in New Orleans since 2011. First Bank & Trust is headquartered in New Orleans with operations in South Louisiana, South Mississippi and Destin, Florida.
Duane serves as President and Chief Credit Officer and has been the project lead for the Sageworks implementation and execution initiative since 2016.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank
Mr. James Anthony joined Martha’s Vineyard Savings Bank as President and Chief Executive Officer in May 2017.
For more than a decade Mr. Anthony was President and CEO of Chesapeake Bancorp and Chesapeake Bank and Trust in Maryland. He served as Severn Bank’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President. Earlier in his career, Mr. Anthony was a consultant with McKinsey & Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mr. Anthony holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and is a graduate of the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Georgetown University. He completed his Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Engineering at the University of Maryland. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Community Bankers Bank, the Maryland Bankers Association, and numerous non-profit organizations.
Mr. Anthony resides on Martha’s Vineyard with his wife, Kelly, and their two daughters, Isabelle and Natalia.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Republic Bank of Chicago
With over three decades of experience in executive bank management, Tom currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Republic Bank of Chicago. As a graduate of the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma, Tom draws from his professional knowledge and education to manage and direct financial institutions to success. Additionally, Tom holds a holds a B.S. in Finance from St. Joseph’s College and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Throughout his notable career, Tom dedicated his personal time to serving as chairman and member for numerous professional, educational, and community-based non-for-profits, including the Illinois Bankers Association and the Northern Illinois Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. With over 30 years of proven leadership within organizations; Tom understands the importance of engaging, educating, and collaboration.
William (Bill) L. Hedgepeth II
President and Chief Executive Officer, Select Bancorp Inc. and Select Bank & Trust
William L. Hedgepeth II has served as the president and chief executive officer of Select Bank & Trust and Select Bancorp Inc. since 2008. Mr. Hedgepeth started his extensive career in the financial industry in 1983, and before his current position, he previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of New Century Bank and New Century Bancorp and as president and chief executive officer of New Century Bank South.
A native North Carolinian, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has completed the North Carolina Bank Directors College program as well as the North Carolina Bankers Association’s Advanced Management Program. Bill was recently appointed to the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and is currently serving on the North Carolina Bankers Association Legislative and Regulatory Committee.
Bill is also an active community member, serving on the board for many nonprofits and associations including United Way of Cumberland County, the Airborne and Special Operations Museum Foundation, the Greater Fayetteville Chamber, and the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Vision.

John is President, Chief Executive Officer, and a Director of the Bank. John graduated in 1979 from the University of Utah. He is also a 2002 graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School.
John is married to Becky and they have four children and seven grandchildren. He likes to read, run, bike, swim, hike, and spend time with the grandchildren.
Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, Chemung Canal Trust Company
Karen currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer of Chemung Canal Trust Company, New York State’s oldest, locally-owned and managed community bank. Karen oversees the risk enterprise-wide for the bank and corporate subsidiaries.
Karen has held executive positions at Key Bank, Wachovia and Suntrust before helping to organize and serve as the inaugural CEO of Panther Community Bank, a Florida de novo bank chartered in December 2007. She holds degrees in business and finance and is a graduate of BAI Graduate School of Banking, ABA National Compliance School, and the RMA Risk Management School. She has served over 70 not-for-profits during her career and is currently VP of the Fund for Women of the Southern Tier.
Chemung has 34 branches, located in upstate New York and Northern Pennsylvania. Chemung Canal is a $1.7 billion bank, with full trust powers. Its Wealth Management Group has $1.95 billion in assets under management or administration.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Sound Community Bank
Laurie Stewart recently celebrated 28 years with Sound Community Bank. In this span, Stewart led the conversion of the organization from a $38 Million dollar credit union to a $640 Million publicly traded commercial bank. She also has a long history of participation in the industry and in the community. Recognized by American Banker as one of the Most Powerful Women in Banking in 2011, 2015 and once again in 2017 she also served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Washington Bankers and the Woodland Park Zoo. She is currently Vice Chair of the American Bankers Association and Vice Chair of the National Arthritis Foundation.
A frequent speaker at conferences and colleges, she has testified in both Washington DC and Olympia, Washington, the state capital. She was one of 14 bankers to serve on the inaugural FDIC Advisory Board and subsequently the CFPB Advisory Board.
When not involved in banking and advocacy she also volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children. She is an avid reader, writer, and seamstress who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro as a fundraiser to cure cancer.
