Supporting Growth with Effective Challenge

Presenters: Alison Trapp and Ancin Cooley

Challenge functions such as the credit department or loan review are not traditionally considered supportive of growth. Credit is usually viewed as slowing down a process and saying no as often as yes, and loan review is seen as trying to find something wrong with everything. These are hardly characteristics that a financial institution would find conducive to growing assets. However, the financial institution is not simply trying to grow assets. It is trying to grow assets in a safe and sound way.

With that goal in mind, challenge functions play a critical role. Effective challenge seeks not to say no but rather to create a partnership between the lines of defense in an effort to meet the financial institution’s overall goal.

Join Alison Trapp of Sageworks and Ancin Cooley of Synergy Bank Consulting LLC for this webinar as we discuss how effective challenge supports growth in the financial institution.
